All residence halls of Michigan State University will be open beginning August 14th for international students who have a confirmed reservation. You may go directly to your assigned hall at anytime after 8am on the 14th.
Beginning on August 11th, the residence halls will be providing housing for international students who have a reservation, but you may be placed in a temporary room in a different hall until the 14th when you can move to your permanent room. Specific details of where you will be housed if you arrive the 11th-13th will be available at a later date. Please note that there is a $15 a night early arrival fee that will be billed to your student account.
If you arrive prior to August 11th, you will need to find alternate housing. Butterfield Guest House, which is in Brody Complex on-campus, will be available starting August 8th at a cost of $15 a night. You may also stay at the Kellogg Center which is just across the street from Butterfield. Kellogg is the University operated hotel.
If you arrive early and have not made a housing reservation, please go to Butterfield Guest House. The reception desk at Butterfield will provide you with information so that you can reserve a permanent room in a residence hall or Spartan Village Apartments. You should be able to arrange for permanent housing on-campus by the next day after you arrive.
If you are a resident of Owen Graduate Center you may arrive at anytime to check in as they are a 365 day a year operation. Because they have summer housing and conferences, however, please e-mail mannaus2@msu.edu to make arrangements for any early move in prior to August 20th. Owen will be able to house you on any date. Prior notice will help insure that you are assigned to an available room.
